Two-hundred and two (202) units were built by a registered non-profit trust. The Pinewood Trust was established jointly by the University of Cape Town and the Association of Retired Persons and Pensioners Housing Association, in terms of the Housing Development for Retired Persons (act No.65 of 1988).
The 202 units consist of bed sitters, one, two and three bedroom units with single garages. All units are well provided with cupboards, bathrooms with non-slip flooring and help-you-out handrails. A true village ambience has been created with practical designs that take into account the needs of retired people while allowing them total freedom to live their own lives in their own homes and to have the right to peace, security and tranquility.
